28 Apr. Many congratulations on Rosalie Tscheppe’s Bronze medal at English EuroLingua competition!
EuroLingua brings together students from all across Styria to show off foreign language skills. We are especially proud that one of our 5A-students was proficient enough to compete with participants who were at Matura level. Read more about Rosi’s experience:
“I drew two numbers from a bag and was given a list of ten topics. I ended up choosing whether bookstores are endangered due to online suppliers and e-books and then worked on my short speech. A jury of three (including one native speaker) listened to the monologues of me and my partner, a randomly chosen student from a different school. We had to discuss topics and reach an agreement- a set-up that is quite similar to our oral Matura exams.
I was amazed after hearing the English finale because these people did not only use a huge range of vocabulary but somehow even managed to be funny and entertaining in another language!
All in all, I think I learned a lot by having the chance to take part in this competition and it has enabled me to improve my English skills overall.”
